A community for identity exploration.
Room for Maybe is not a transgender community, an anti-transgender community, a sexuality community, a detransition community, or a political community.
It is a place for people who are working out who they are, and who are allowed to still be working on it next month.
It's age-neutral: we never ask your age, there is no private messaging, and no parent, guardian or teacher gets access to anyone's account.
What you're feeling matters. You don't need to decide what it means immediately.
The five ideas

You are allowed to be uncertain
Nothing here treats uncertainty as a problem to be cleared up by Friday. “Not sure” is a real answer everywhere on this site, including on your own profile.

Feelings are real. Interpretations can change.
What you feel is real. What it means can take a while, and you don't owe anyone an answer this month. We won't tell you that you're definitely trans, and we won't tell you that you're definitely not.

Changing your mind is normal
Understanding yourself differently later doesn't mean you were lying before. There is no coming-out milestone to earn here, and nobody has to be “enough” of anything.

Nobody gets to recruit you
Nobody may push another member toward or away from transition, sexuality, religion, medical care or politics. Talking about your own experience is fine. Campaigning about someone else's identity is not.

Exploration before conclusions
“What am I feeling?” comes before “which label explains me?”. “What is going on in my life right now?” comes before any decision that is hard to undo.
What we won't do
- We won't rank you, score you, or tell you what you really are.
- We won't reward identity performance with followers or karma.
- We won't build a feed whose job is to keep an upset teenager scrolling.
- We won't let adults contact minors privately.
- We won't hand anyone's experience to a side as ammunition.
- We won't hand you to a chatbot. No AI is allowed here: no AI accounts, no AI-written posts, no model moderating or answering you. A person reads your post.
Room for Maybe is the first community built on a Community as a Service model. We build and run the infrastructure so the community can just be a community.
