What we hold, and who can see it.

Room for Maybe is age-neutral. We never ask your age and you don't need to share it to be here.

This page is written to be true rather than reassuring. Where something has a limit, the limit is written down.

What we ask for
  • An email address

So you can log in and reset your password. It's never shown to other members.

  • A name you pick

Shown on your posts. Use a nickname, a handle, any word you like. It doesn't have to be your real one.

  • Optional lines about you

“Right now I'm…”, things you like, what you're here for. Blank is a completely normal answer.

What we never ask for
  • · Your age or birthday
  • · Your legal name
  • · Your school, college or workplace
  • · Your town, address or precise location
  • · Your phone number
  • · Your other socials
  • · Photos of you

Please don't post your legal name, school, workplace, town or anything else that could get you found offline.

Two lists, no overlap

Private to you vs. visible in the room.

Private from other members

  • · Journal entries
  • · Daily check-ins
  • · Parked questions in Take Your Time
  • · Your email address

None of this appears on your profile, in the room, or anywhere another member, moderator-facing queue, parent, teacher or friend can reach. There is no feature that shares it and no way to grant anyone access to it.

Visible to other members

  • · The name you picked
  • · Your optional profile lines, if you filled them in
  • · Posts and replies you write in the room
  • · Which supportive reactions you left

Posts and replies are community content: other members can read them and moderators can read them when handling a report. Treat anything you post as public within the room.

The honest limits

Where access technically exists.

Your journal, check-ins and parked questions are stored in our database. Access rules stop other members and moderators from reading them. They do not, and cannot, stop the small number of people who administer the platform infrastructure from technically reaching stored data, nor a lawful order compelling it. Anyone claiming otherwise about any hosted app is selling you something.

So we don't say “only you can ever read this”. We say: it is private from other community members, it is never on your profile, it is never shared with parents, guardians, teachers or other users, and it is not used to profile you or sold to anyone.

Administrative access is for keeping the service running and for legal obligations, not for browsing. We would rather tell you that than pretend it doesn't exist.

Parents, guardians and schools

Being someone's parent, guardian, teacher or partner grants zero privileges on this platform. There is no family account type, no dashboard, no activity report, no “request access” form, and no way to look up whether a specific person has an account.

Asking the community to report on a specific named person is treated as a serious privacy violation and gets the asking account removed.

Deleting things

You can delete your own posts, replies, parked questions and your profile. Deleting your profile removes your account data, including your private reflections. Backups roll off on their own schedule, so deletion isn't instant everywhere at once.

Questions about any of this, or something on this page that doesn't match what you see in the app? The safety page lists the controls we claim, so you can hold us to them.
